A step-by-step on how to do a Uniformly layered sculpture.
Section the hair for control. Section from a center part. Section from ear to ear across the apex (highest point of the head).
Position the head upright. You can slightly tilt the head forward if you are sculpting layers in the nape.
For partings, you can choose either horizontal partings or vertical partings. Horizontal partings will create weight and vertical partings will create weightlessness.
Use perpendicular distribution to sculpt the lengths throughout the head.
In combination with perpendicular distribution, use a 90* angle to sculpt lengths across the head. Be sure to cross-check for accuracy.
Position your finger/shear position parallel to the curves of the head. You can use palm-up or palm-down depending on the hair you are sculpting.
A mobile design line will be used to sculpt the hair. It is important that you take small sections while sculpting so the design line remains visible at all times. This will ensure that your projection, distribution will be accurate at all times.
Once the hair sculpture is complete, air form the hair to the style of your choosing.
