How to Create "E-girl Hair"

A recent trend in the hair industry is having two face-framing pieces of hair be very colorful or much brighter than the rest of the color giving the "pop" element to the hair.

This type of piece can be done on a variety of hair techniques like balayage (in balayage is also known as a money piece) or alongside a solid color. This type of hair is also considered to be a contrast hair design too!

The steps below will guide you to re-create this cool tone pink e-girl hair!

  1. Make sure you have the following items: powder lightener, developer, semi-permanent dye (color of your choice), two hair dye bowls, two tint brushes, gloves, Foils, rat tail comb, and hair clips.

  2. Section two sections of hair on each side of the head. These pieces can be as thick or thin as you like.

  3. Mix your powder lightener and developer to the manufacturer's directions.

  4. Start applying the bleach in the mid strands to ends, leave about 1-2 inches from the scalp out

  5. Make sure the hair is completely saturated. Once the hair is fully saturated cover the hair with foils to incubate the hair.

  6. Leave the lightener on for approximately 30-45 minutes until the hair has reached a level 9/10. It is extremely important to check the hair every 10 minutes.

  7. Once the mid-strands of the hair has reached a level 7/8 apply lightener to the 1-2 inches that were left out originally, let process for the last 10-15 minutes.

  8. Once the hair has reached a level 9/10 rinse the hair with lukewarm water.

  9. Dry the hair that was lightened.

  10. Once the hair is dry, apply a semi-permanent hair dye to a lightened section (in the image above, I would recommend using Manic Panic dye in cotton cand pink)

  11. Leave the semi-permanent dye on hair for 20-30 minutes.

  12. Rinse the hair in lukewarm water and style to your choice.
